About the Million Salawat Project
{Truly, Allah and His Angels send blessings upon the Prophet. O ye who believe send blessings and abundant salutations.}
[Al-Qur’ān 33:56]
The One Million Salawat programme began humbly in 2012 under the under the blessings of His Eminence Shaykh Muhammad al-Yaqoubi (Syria) and guidance of Shaykh Faisal Hamid Abdur-Razaq (Canada).
A small group of brothers and sisters in Birmingham were inspired by an effort to encourage the global Muslim community to read salawat or durūd sharīf and were inspired by the practise of the pious people of Ash-Sham (The Levant). This inspiration turned into an aspiration of organising a programme in which we encourage the Birmingham and UK community to recite collectively one million salawat in one gathering. That vision was achieved by delivering our first programme held at Ghamkol Shareef Masjid in Birmingham in which the community in unison, in joined hearts and in a single harmonious voice One Million Salawat was recited!
Shaykh Muhammad al-Yaqoubi described the gathering as a ‘historical moment.’ The testimonials of those who participated were wonderful as attendees spoke about soul lifting and life changing experience.
This event has steadily grown in following and interest over the years, including an increasing international support though our online facility. The programme was held in Bradford in 2013, the famous Salawat of Shifa event in 2014, Shaykh Hisham Kabbani blessed us in 2015, and Shaykh Muhammad al-Yaqoubi graced us in 2016 completing five years. The event is grateful and humbled with regular support and attendance by special guest Shaykh Faisal Hamid Abdur-Razak (the khaifah of His Eminence Shaykh Muhammad al-Yaqoubi) and the The Travellers.
Join us to fulfil another dream of reciting million salawat at the 7th One Million Salawat : The Journey to Allah programme which will be held in Birmingham. This is a ‘must attend’ for all lovers of the Beloved or those seeking revival! This year we aim to achieve a landmark of one million salawat not just by the end of the night but in one sitting!
